The Package owner can choose to enable or disable the consent banners while creating a Package. During the Package creation and customization process, navigate to the Compliance tab under Package Options to configure this setting.
Under the Compliance tab, the Consent section contains a Required toggle that allows the Package owner to enable one or more consent requirements for signers before signing the document. By default, this toggle is OFF.
The available consent options are:
- Signing – Requires signers to accept the Electronic Signature Consent before they can sign documents.
- Video Recording – Requires signers to accept the Video Recording Consent before they can join a VSR meeting. This option is available only for VSR Packages.
The Consent section also includes a Policy Window setting, which allows the Package owner to specify a time period during which a signer's previously accepted consent remains valid. If the signer has already accepted the required consent within the selected policy window, they will not be prompted to provide consent again. Once the policy window expires, the signer will be asked to accept the required consent again. This feature applies only to members of the organization. Available time periods for the Policy Window are Always, Every 30 days, Every 60 days, Every 90 days, Every 120 days, and Every 180 days.

With the introduction of consent banners, signer consent can now be captured directly as part of the signing workflow. As a result, organizations have the flexibility to disable the Compliance Audit Certificate (CAC) pages if they are not required for their business processes.
Package owners can choose to suppress the Compliance Audit Certificate by selecting None from the CAC drop-down menu. When None is selected, the system automatically enables the Electronic Signature Consent option to ensure signer consent is still captured during the signing process.
Alternatively, Package owners may choose to retain the Compliance Audit Certificate while also enabling the consent banner, allowing both forms of consent capture to be included in the same Signing Package.
Once the required consent options have been enabled, signers will be presented with the appropriate consent banner when they open the Package for signing. The signer must accept the required consent before they can access and sign the document. Before accepting the consent, the signer can review the document by clicking the Download button located in the top-right corner of the consent banner. This downloads the original document, allowing the signer to review its contents before deciding whether to proceed.
If the signer declines the consent, the Package is automatically rescinded, and no further signing actions can be performed. The Package status is updated to indicate that the consent was declined, and the Package owner receives a notification informing them that the signer has chosen not to proceed. The signer also has the option to provide a custom message explaining why they declined the consent. This message is included in the notification sent to the Package owner.
For a VSR Package, the Package owner can enable both the Electronic Signature Consent and Video Recording Consent options. When an attendee joins the VSR meeting, both consent banners will be presented before they are allowed to proceed. The attendee can accept all required consents by clicking Agree to All, allowing them to continue into the meeting. If they choose not to provide consent, they can click Leave to exit the meeting.
The standard consent notices displayed in the consent banners cannot be modified, as they are predefined by the application. However, organizations can add supplementary consent text to accompany the standard notices if required to comply with applicable laws or regulatory requirements in the jurisdictions where signings take place.
Additional consent notices can be configured on the Signing Defaults page under the Consent Notices section. These notices can be added by an administrator and will apply to all Packages created by members of the organization. Custom consent notices can also be configured in the other supported languages, including French (fr), Spanish (es), and German (de). Separate custom notices can be configured for Electronic Signature Consent and Video Recording Consent, allowing organizations to provide additional information specific to each type of consent.
In the example above, a sample custom notice has been added. Once the changes are saved, this notice will be displayed alongside the standard consent notice in the consent banner.
The MasterFile audit trail also records the signer's consent history, including whether the required consent was accepted or declined.
