Once the Sequential Package has been created and sent by the Package Owner, email notifications are automatically issued by the platform. The first signer in the sequence will receive a “Ready to Sign” notification, as they are the next required signer. The named witnesses assigned to this signer will receive a “Waiting to Sign” notification. Unnamed witnesses will not receive any email notifications at this stage, since their details have not yet been provided. In the example below, there is one signer with two witness signers - one unnamed and one named.

When the signer clicks the link in the email notification to open the document, and if any unnamed witnesses are assigned to them, they will be prompted with the Edit Witness Details dialog to enter the required information. The signer must complete the witness details before proceeding to the document for signing. The First Name, Last Name, and Email Address fields are mandatory. The signer may also use the Instructions field to provide any guidance for their witness signers. Once the witness is added, an email notification will be sent to them, including the specified instructions. If multiple unnamed witnesses are assigned, after entering the details for the first witness, clicking Next will prompt the signer to complete the information for the additional witness(es).

On the Edit Witness Details dialog, the signers are also provided with a Signer Actions menu that allows them to select from several options during the signing process. The available options are explained here.

Once all witness details have been entered, clicking Next will take the signer to the Manage Your Witness dialog, where they can review the information provided. If any updates are needed, they can edit the witness details using the edit icon located next to the witness signer’s information. After reviewing and making any necessary changes, they can click Close to proceed to review and sign the document.
After the signer completes the signing and clicks Send, the document is automatically routed to the first assigned witness, who will receive a Ready to Sign email notification. Following the witness’s signature, the document is forwarded to the next witness (if applicable) or to the next main signer in the workflow. This sequence continues until all required parties have signed and the document is fully executed.
