Identity Verification (IDV) can be used as a standalone feature. Currently, there are two ways to set this up.
Option 1 (Available in V 4.1)
Using a Signing Package
The Package Owner can enable the IDV feature for a Signing Package without uploading any documents. The Package can then be sent to the signer solely for identity verification. Once the signer completes the IDV process, the Package owner will be able to view the verification results in the MasterFile. They will also have the option to download the IDV report, which includes the verification details, images of the government-issued ID, and the signer’s selfie.
-
While creating a Package, the Package Owner selects the appropriate IDV Policy from the Identity Verification Policy dropdown menu and enables the Verify toggle for the relevant signer(s).
-
No documents are required at this stage. The Package Owner can simply save the Package, after which a Send Verify button will appear in the top-right corner. This allows the ID verification request to be sent without uploading any documents.
-
The signer receives an email notification informing them that they have been added to a Signing Package and are required to complete identity verification. The email includes a Verify link.
- By clicking the Verify link, the signer is guided through the ID verification process.
-
After successfully completing ID verification, the signer is informed that they will receive a separate email if any documents need to be signed.
- Once the ID verification process is completed, the system generates a MasterFile™ Audit Trail, which contains all details of the ID verification for non-repudiation and audit purposes.
- The Package Owner can then access the MasterFile to review and download the IDV results.
- This Package can be used solely for standalone IDV without any documents. If required, the Package Owner may later edit the Package to add documents and send it out for signatures. No additional Package cost will be incurred for doing so.

Option 2
Using an iinked Form
iinked Forms can also be utilized for standalone IDV.
See: How To Create an iinked Form™
- When creating an iinked Form, you can enable IDV for the Form Signer. You can create the form without adding documents, however, you also have the option to include a generic waiver document and template it as needed. Once the form is finalized, you can share the reusable iinked Form link with your clients or post it on your website.
You can create a waiver document, if needed, (similar to the sample in the screenshot below) that would be added as a document to the iinked Form.
Instructions for the signer: How To Use an iinked Form™
Please note: In this scenario, once the client enters their details on the iinked Form landing page, they will be prompted to complete the Identity Verification process. When the client submits their details, a Package is automatically created in the portal. This allows you to track the progress and results of the Identity Verification and provides a detailed MasterFile audit trail for non-repudiation and audit purposes. If the iinked Form was created without any documents, you can always return to the Package later, add the required documents, and send it out for signatures.
